bass sound

Hey guys.

Ar the the MMX series suitable for hole in the bass? Right now i havn't hole, but now I'm in to recording s? it would be nice with some tips! If i put a head on the shell with hole (5"), I get a very borring sound. Really bad. No resonant.

I've tried a Recording Cusom with a huge hole in the bass, and the bass still sounded pretty cool (not as good as my bass without hole!). I was very suprised. I've also tried a Premier Genista with hole, and that has a lot more full and nice sound.

I have Evans EMAD coated batter, and Fiberskyn 3 front. I think I buy a EQ3 in this week - would that help to my sound? I've also tried a Powerstroke 3, and that dosn't work. Maybe these heads are to "dead" in the sound?

I want a sound like the brady. Not exact that sound, but I'm shure there's hole in that bass, and it's that style of sound I wan't.

EQ3 or an EQ4 on the batter side with a single ply front head no hole, front head tensioned a tad tight with the batter almost to wrinkle, oh and put a DW pillow or similar inside the drum.......this will give you the ultimate punch. You can also try the Aquarian Super Kic or Super Kic2 as a batter head which will give similar results.

I found out a new way..

I can easily get my nice sound with a resohead without hole. I really love the EMAD's, so I trie a clear, black -evans- singleply resohead without any kind of muffling and one of those Evans EQ pillows. They're great.
